About the role
We’re partnering with a Series B fintech building the payments rails for thousands of European businesses. They’re hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to own critical services from design through to production.
You’ll work in a small, high-trust team where engineers ship to production daily and own their work end-to-end, no hand-offs, no ticket factories.
What you’ll do
- Design, build and operate high-throughput backend services handling real money movement
- Lead technical design for new product areas and mentor mid-level engineers
- Improve reliability, observability and performance of existing systems
- Partner closely with product to scope and sequence delivery
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years building production backend systems at scale
- Deep experience with a typed language, Go, Java, C# or TypeScript
- Strong fundamentals: data modelling, APIs, queues, testing, CI/CD
- Comfort owning services in production (on-call is shared and humane)
- Bonus: fintech, payments or other regulated-domain experience
